Following successful programs in other states, primary and junior secondary schools in the Western suburbs of Sydney are invited to register their interest to join a 2024 Western Sydney Advanced Manufacturing Industry Schools Program. Ideally, this program will run in terms 3-4 for 10 schools (5 primary and 5 secondary schools).

Makers Empire is delighted to share this Advanced Manufacturing Industry Schools Program for 5 primary schools and 5 junior secondary schools in the Western City Parklands Authority area. The Western City Parklands Authority area comprises these suburbs:

What is the Project Scope?

- Students use design thinking processes to solve a school or community-based problem using 3D technologies
- Students become familiar with the advanced manufacturing industry including the role that 3D printing plays in the industry
- Teachers undertake industry immersion and future skills and career awareness days
- Teachers attend industry site tour
- Students complete a custom manufacturing and careers challenge course
- Students will solve a real-world, industry-informed manufacturing problem
- Students will present their solutions to an industry panel at showcase day
- Teachers will undertake industry immersion and future skills and career awareness days
- Teachers will attend industry site tour with guest industry speakers

What Do Schools Receive?

- At least 2 teachers (up to 5 per school) will participate in the Makers Empire ‘Learning by Design’ professional learning course (20 hours of professional learning).
- Teachers will attend 2 x industry immersion and future skills and career awareness days. One of these days will include an industry site tour.
- 1 year subscription to Makers Empire School Plan (3D design software, teacher dashboard, 130 curriculum aligned lesson plans, built-in assessment tools, online professional development, ongoing support, updates and maintenance).
- 3D printer bundle (‘Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro’ 3D printer, 3.25kg PLA filament, support, shipping)
Total project participant value is $6,500 ex-gst per school
- At least 2 teachers (up to 5 per school) will participate in the Makers Empire ‘Learning by Design’ professional learning course (20 hours of professional learning).
- Access to the Advanced Manufacturing Challenge Course in the Makers Empire 3D App.
- Teachers will attend 2 x industry immersion and future skills and career awareness days. One of these days will include an industry site tour.
- Industry Subject Matter Experts will share their experience, expertise and challenges with teachers and students.
- 1 year subscription to Makers Empire School Plan (3D design software, teacher dashboard, 130 curriculum aligned lesson plans, built-in assessment tools, online professional development, ongoing support, updates and maintenance).
- 3D printer bundle (‘Flashforge Adventurer 5 Pro’ 3D printer, 5 rolls of PLA filament, support, shipping)

- Term 4, week 7^ at project completion, teachers and students attend a Showcase Day**
(schools arrange transport and cover TRT expenses). - Participate in professional learning communities and online professional learning activities.
- Participate in data collection and share their learning experiences with others.
